The second biennial Hollister House Garden Study Weekend was by all accounts a great success. Beginning with a gala evening in the garden on Friday, the locus of events moved on Saturday to the Washington Montessori School where guests were invited to begin the day with the opportunity for early buying at the Rare Plant Sale, followed by a roster of distinguished speakers whose topics ranged from the sublimely sophisticated gardens of Peter Wirtz to Jill Nokes' entertaining account of the dirt gardeners of rural Texas. On Sunday a tour of extraordinary gardens capped off the weekend, several among them having never, or rarely, been opened before to the general public.
